Any day now no doubt we’ll all be saying “I can’t believe how quickly this year has gone, it’s simply flown by” or words to that effect.
A good friend of mine has a theory that the reason each year seems to go quicker than the last is because each year represents a smaller proportion of our lives. In other words a year to a ten year old would seem much longer than to a fifty year old. (Sorry for explaining that!)
So since time passes so quickly how can we possibly do all the things we want to do, and achieve all the things we keep promising ourselves that we will?
In a few weeks time many of us will take a moment to reflect upon what we did or didn’t do over the last twelve months. Whether you will feel a glow of satisfaction or a nagging feeling of frustration, only you will know.
Personally I’m in no position to preach as I never did all the things which I had considered doing at the start of the year. I suppose my greatest achievement in 2010 was to spend over eighteen weeks abroad on several holidays! But then in mitigation I have spent over 50 years of my life working full time.
However I’m ready to get into action next year and play catch up.
Which brings me to the point. New Year resolutions…..How to make them and not break them.
What I really mean of course is setting some meaningful goals for next year, and more importantly how to be sure we achieve them.
Between now and the end of the month of December I’m going to to share some thoughts on how you can make next year simply brilliant in terms of what you achieve.
Before I do however, perhaps you’d care to indulge in a bit of daydreaming to think of all what you would want for yourself in the year ahead…..and be sure to aim high.
I’ll be back soon with a set of easy instructions. Follow them and I guarantee you a very Happy and Prosperous New Year!
